In Madagascar, the campaign began

with a bang and some measuring means for other.

Debauchery means decibels and traffic jams in some streets of the capital because of caravans organized by candidates marked this Tuesday, September 24 the opening of the official propaganda campaign for president. This electioneering only is completed on October 23 to 6am, 48 hours before the election. Citizens will therefore have a month to know the candidates. They are 33 to compete.

“I chose you…” John 15: 16

The partnership between Ambatomainty Parish Lutheran Church (Ambohimandroso District) and LHM began on January 2013. As Pastor David Zoulder the responsible for 4 churches is the husband of Virginie (the accountant of the LHM Office), both they work together with love and conviction that all Christians, the unchurch people in the surrounding will grow in faith through BCC and Film showing. Then, since January 2013 more than 150 Christians are enrolled in BCC where two locales volunteers are in charge. Thank the Lord, this month of September, the Pastor Zoulder and his catechist awarded certificates to 13 graduated BCC students for first level.

Yearly gathering of Avaratrimania Synod (SPAM)

The Malagasy Lutheran Churches (MLC) has 23 Synods. The yearly gathering of each Synod is one of the major events in the MLC calendar. For this year, the LHM Director and three Staff members attended this event in Avaratrimania Synod (one of the largest Synod, it has 33 Districts). It is located in the Antsirabe area, 168 Km from the Capital of Madagascar. This event allowed us to meet pastors from the church partners who benefited ETS training workshops as a follow up; to establish new partnership; to make known about LHM and its activities; to register new BCC students and volunteers; to distribute pamphlets and photo exhibition on all ETS made throughout the island. During, 3 days on September 5, 6, 7, 2013, we’ve run a booth through which we could show our different activities (BCC, Booklets, Films, Prospectus and news papers) and sold satchels as a found raising.
As a result, many people enrolled to our BCC program and some people offered to work as LHM volunteers. 1,000 prospectus and tract about radio program were freely distributed.

Presidential Elections

Exclusion of three candidates

The Verdict is out. The Special Electoral Court (CES) exclude controversial the three candidates, like Andry Rajoelina, Lalao Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka. These three candidates were unable to provide the necessary elements in order to defend the maintenance of their candidature (such as non-resident for at least 6 months in the country). But many politicians have characterized “ambiguous” the decision of the CES for the revision of the list of presidential candidates. According to the same decision last August 17, the CES confirms the validity of the candidatures from 31 other candidates on the list published last 3 May. The new schedule developed by the CENIT is: the first round of presidential elections will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, while the second round, combined with the legislative elections will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013.
